Jamaican Raw Honey - Logwood Summer 2017
Raw Honey, from our friends at Blackbirds Farm in from sweet sweet Jamaica
Honey bees feast on seasonal blossoms on estates throughout Jamaica's lush tropical mountain landscapes. Surrounded by aromatic blooms of ginger, cinnamon, and coffee, Jamaica's honey bees produce amazingly robust, gorgeous-tasting honeys.
This batch of honey was harvested early in 2017, during the logwood season, from Spring Garden apiary in St Thomas and Mountainside apiary in St Elizabeth.
Characteristically clear to pale yellow in colour, logwood honey has floral notes, is crisp on the tongue, and finishes with a velvety smooth swallow.
Blackbirds Farm Raw Honeys
Our friends at Blackbirds have a wicked sense of humour, but they take the bees-ness seriously.
Single Estate Guaranteed
Honey is reaped from one apiary at a time, so each bottle comes from one apiary in one season. No mixing, no blending.
Raw for best quality
This honey is only strained, to remove any solid particles. Nothing else is done before bottling. Raw honey has significantly more nutritional and holistic value than your typical jar or honey, which can be blended from several batches, heated, and pasteurised. It's better for you, and (surprise!) it tastes better.
In Jamaica's tropical climate, the flora and fauna still follow a natural cycle. Reaping seasonal honeys from different locations means you'll get a taste of what the bees were nibbling: coffee blossom, ginger, logwood, cinnamon are but a few of the plants growing near the Blackbirds Farm apiaries. Like wine, each season produces a slightly different honey.
As you would expect, seasonal honeys have limited production periods, so supply is limited to whatever was produced in the hives. Traditional reaping and bottling methods ensure that the special care is taken getting this special honey from hive to jar.
255ml in glass jar; 750ml bulk size in plastic bottle.
Bottled in Stony Hill, St Andrew, Jamaica by Blackbirds Farm, Ltd. and available only through Sargasso Trading Company in the UK.
