Fresh Cacao Sargasso Botanica soap
Warm and spicy
Some years ago, I was walking through hillside town of St. George, Grenada. It's fairly typical of a Caribbean capital, like Bridgetown or Hamilton. But unlike either of those picturesque harbour towns, the smell captivating—spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, then some other, familiar things— cacao, citrus, the sea, pots of cooked food . . .
The memory of that afternoon came to me while trying to convince a block of cocoa butter to come apart in the workshop: sweet to smell, velvety to the touch, wonderful on skin.
Our Fresh Cacao fragrance, inspired by the smell of a freshly cut cacao pod, is topped off with a dollop of cocoa butter to create a beautifully moisturising bar that brings the aromatic warmth of the Grenadian hillsides to your bath.
Our Sargasso Botanica soaps begin with a base of coconut butter + aloe vera. To this, we add olive oil, mango butter, and wildcrafted Amazonian murumuru butter.
The Fresh Cacao bar is enriched with cocoa butter. This scent is exclusive to Sargasso.
|Cacao is a super botanical. Cocoa butter and chocolate are but two of its gifts to us. One of our favourite treats is Cocoa Tea, a hot drink made with roasted cocoa nibs (or cocoa balls), nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, milk and sugar.|

For a pictorial, have a look at this Flickr essay. This bloke is obsessed with cacao, and we're glad!
p.s. "Cacao" is the raw fruit pod; anything it becomes after processing is "cocoa." We weren't being pretentious, just following the wacky rules of the English lexicon.
